The Department of Special and Early Education at Northern Illinois University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position as an
undergraduate academic adviser beginning January 1, 2013. The Department of Special and Early Education is a broad-based department with
early childhood education, special education and vision impairment undergraduate certification programs.

Responsibilities: The qualified candidate is expected to provide developmental academic advising to prospective and current undergraduate students regarding teacher education programs in early childhood education and vision impairment education.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Masters degree in an area related to the position completed by start date, ability to work independently and collaboratively, ability to work with diverse populations, oral and written communication skills, and knowledge and proficiency with word processing, email, data-based applications, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Priority will be given to candidates who have teaching experience at the P-12 level, academic advising experience in higher education or experience working with college students, and knowledge of developmental advising.
